Let’s Focus on Friday!

3-Hour Agility Workshop: Go the Distance!

Friday, June 17, 2016 :: 6pm – 9pm at Pets Behave in Niceville, Florida

“Distance Handling” has been around for a long time, but it seems to be the big catch phrase these days. Some say that they want it and others say that they must have it to successfully make it through an agility course. For this Focus on Friday, we will test your ability to send your dog away from you and to find those places on a course where increasing your distance really makes sense. We will talk about the foundation skills that you will need in order for your dog to have the confidence to work away from you and successfully complete the obstacles.

We will work through several drills where you will have the option to stay behind a line and send your dog over jumps, to tunnels and other obstacles. Keep in mind that developing distance skills is a process, but this Workshop will help you decide where you might want some distance skills as well as where it makes sense for your dog to work closely too.

Pets Behave will provide cold water and some chips and salsa to get the party started. Please bring a (people) snack to share along with treats for your dog. While things heat up outside, the dogs can stay crated in air conditioned comfort in the building. You will need your running/dancing shoes and high expectations for a fun, successful night of agility training!
